Raise money for the Club while you spend, spend, spend

With lockdown continuing until at least December 2, I am sure you are more aware than usual of the avalanche of Black Friday promotions this year. I am told that is next Friday but you would be hard pressed to tell it hasn’t already started.

What better time, then, to help contribute to the Club’s fundraising without expending any effort beyond interrupting that Zoom call to enjoy some online retail therapy! The Club has been registered with easyfundraising for some years and reinvigoration of our campaign is probably overdue given the growth in our membership.

If you’re not familiar with the scheme, easyfundraising is a charitable initiative raising £millions each year for good causes by extracting a small percentage of the profits from over 4,300 retailers each time you buy online. There is no cost to you and it does not affect the price you pay or any deals you may be offered.

And it couldn’t be simpler. Just register through the Club website and spend! You can also download a browser extension or an App to your phone and it will automatically recognise when you are shopping with one of the participating retailers and ask if you want to claim your easyfundraising donation. You will be notified each time you get a donation, however small, and an update from time-to-time on how much you have raised for the cause.

Amazon are the biggest participating retailer although they like to hide their generosity and don’t feature too prominently in the easyfundraising promotional materials. So is M&S – not just easyfundraising but M&S easyfundraising! Stationery retailers, travel booking companies and many other small business suppliers are also involved so those running their own businesses can contribute too. You may need to ask the owners’ permission if buying for somone else’s business though!

And to help encourage you to join, easyfundraising will donate £5 to the Club for each new registrant once you spend £5 or more. Which is less than the cost of the latest The Cricketer magazine at WH Smith, another participant. And John Lewis are donating a whopping 3% of your purchase price for the duration of their Christmas campaign. So you know where to get your ‘never knowingly undersold’ electricals and household goods.

To register and/or get further information, you can find the easyfundraising page under the Community tab on the Club website or click here https://staplehurstcricket.com/easyfundraising
