COVID-19: Tennis update

4 Nov 2020 by John Swannick

Following Friday’s announcement of a return to national lockdown, the LTA has been in discussions with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport on the possibilities of exempting singles tennis play under tighter condition of play.

Unfortunately, these discussions have not resulted in any exemption and the Club will need to comply with the national lockdown laws as agreed by Parliament this afternoon.

So the courts will be closed to users with effect from midnight tonight and all current bookings are cancelled. The courts will be locked after this evening’s social tennis session until December 2 and no further sessions may be booked until further notice. Of course, if there is any prospect of a relaxation of the rules prior to December 2, we will update you.

In the circumstances, we would ask members not to visit the Club site without prior authorisation until lockdown is lifted or tennis is approved for a return to play.
