New committee members

1 Feb 2019 by John Swannick

We will be publishing the reports from Wednesday’s AGM over the next few days for those who were unable to make it. But we were pleased to welcome nearly 50 brave souls who did make the effort.

You will shortly receive Tom Henson’s introduction to the new Club by-laws and code of conduct which was approved unanimously. We will also publish the Chairman’s report and the Club Development Plan presentation. The approved and independently verified accounts have already been published under the Documents button with member-only access (you will need to be logged in to the App).

We welcome two new members of the Commitee – the Executive not General Committee now under the new structure – of Staplehurst Cricket & Tennis Club Limited.

Sean Clark was elected as Marketing & PR Officer although his role will broaden to cover what we are loosely terming ‘corporate development’ which will be explained in due course. There are a number of people supporting Sean in managing the marketing, PR and communication. Sean has been the Club’s grants officer for the past few months and an active playing tennis member. Professionally he is Head of Corporate Finance for Thurrock Council.

Alan Collard is known to all – perhaps too well to a few of our batsmen – as a League umpire and Quiz afficionado. He would not want to be called assistant groundsman but feel free to ask him about the science of square water management. He is now a Vice President of the Club and was elected as a Director of the Club’s Board for a 4-year term. As well as being, like many in the Club, a clapped out old banker, Alan is also Education Officer of the Kent Association of Cricket Officials.

Alan replaces Brian Humphries who stepped down from the Board after seeing through our recent restructuring. Brian has been associated with the Club for over 38 years as dour opening bat, captain, chief fundraiser for the then new pavillion (the 90s addition not the 50s original), chairman, president, trustee and friend. We are delighted therefore to welcome Brian as our fourth Honorary Life Member.
