1st XI crowned champions

10 Nov 2018 by John Swannick

The Kent Cricket League dinner and awards took place last night. Our 1st XI were formally crowned Division 5 champions and skipper, Tom Davey, received the Division Champion trophy and a flag which is ours to keep and fly for the 2019 season as we battle to keep the record of consecutive promotions going in League Division 4.

Pictured (L to R) are George Perry, Sam McConnel, Graham Ward, Tom Davey and James Veitch.

On a sad note, Mr Veitch returns to Australia shortly but will takes with him some happy memories and a much greater ability to play the moving ball which will, no doubt, come in useful in Adelaide grade cricket.

In further League news, despite their season tailing off, the 2nd XI have also been promoted to the Kent League and will start the 2019 season in Kent League Division 5 (2nd XIs). This is due to teams finishing in automatic promotion places being ineligible for the Kent Cricket League and our 2nds achieving more points than other runners-up across the three divisions in the same tier.

So huge congratulations to all the cricketers for another fantastically successful year.
