Cricket for 5-16 year-olds: come along and hear more

3 Apr 2018 by John Swannick

With an emphasis on enjoyment and participation, inspiring a passion for cricket that supports individual development, we have built one of the largest junior cricket coaching programmes in Kent. And a commitment to keeping costs low means we also offer one of the best value young people’s sporting activities.

For young people – girls and boys – aged 5-16, we cater for all abilities and levels of experience. In particular, we welcome those who have played little or no cricket at whatever age.

We are the local centre for England & Wales Cricket Board’s All Stars Cricket scheme specifically targeted at 5-8 year olds who are new to cricket. We also have cricket for girls, a programme developed with former England women’s international, Lydia Greenway.

Our focus is on coaching and training for continuous improvement. Head coach, Peter Cavender, a UKCC Level 3 coach to the U13 Kent Girls’ Performance Squad, leads a large team of appropriately qualified and DBS checked coaches and coach support workers. We are Sport England Clubmark accredited meaning your child will get a high quality experience in a safe and welcoming environment.

We also run teams in the local Weald Junior League at U9, U11, U13 and U16. While we encourage all those aged 14+ to move into senior cricket when appropriate, we are looking to develop T20 cricket for 16-19 year olds not yet committed to longer forms of the game.

The 2018 outdoor junior cricket season begins in earnest straight after Easter holidays.

All parents, current and potential junior cricketers are asked to attend one of our registration and information sessions. These allow us to give an insight into our ethos – the way we do things and why – and the family partnerships we seek to build. They also provide all the practical information you need to know to support your child’s cricket including training times, teams, competitions, equipment needs, costs and much more.

The registration and information sessions take place at the Club on the following dates:
>Sunday 15 April 10.30-11.00am
>Sunday 15 April 11.00-11.30am
>Wednesday 18 April 6.30-7.00pm
>Wednesday 18 April 7.00-7.30pm
