Club in with chance of £200,000 award

18 Jan 2018 by John Swannick

As part of its fundraising effort, the Club submitted an application on New Year’s Eve to Persimmon Homes’ Healthy Communities award scheme. We are delighted to learn this week that we have been granted £750 towards our tennis and cricket outreach scheme with Staplehurst School.

What is more, as one of the 90 award winners in 2017, we go forward to a shortlisting exercise by the Persimmon Homes regional businesses. The shortlisted 30 winners will each receive £5,000 for wider club development. They will then be put to a public vote for a top award of £200,000 and two second awards of £50,000.

Although we have no Persimmon Homes developments locally, their south-east regional head office is in Maidstone. So there is an outside chance we could make the shortlisting. The scheme administrators said the application, based on our Club Development Plan and Building our Future project, is extremely strong.

We will know if we have been successful in the next week or so. If we are shortlisted there will need to be a campaign to get everyone we know to support and vote for us. Watch this space!
