We're looking for a grants officer

Do you like entering competitions? Then you might be just the sort of person we’re looking for.

One of the volunteering roles we identified as part of the Club’s volunteer recruitment campaign was that of a grants officer. Could you play this pivotal role in our future development?

We have been reasonably successful in applying for grant funding in recent years. We have obtained a number of small and medium-sized grants from diverse sources such as England & Wales Cricket Board, Kent Youth Trust, Staplehurst Carnival & Fete, Newlyn Trust, Persimmon Homes, Rural Communities Energy Fund and various sports funding organisations and local authorities. But we are conscious there are many other opportunities out there we need to tap into on a more systematic basis.

The grants officer would help us do that. Someone who can commit maybe 1-2 hours per month researching grant sources, identifying appropriate schemes and submitting applications using information readily available that could be compiled into a database.

We already have access to a couple of online grants finders. The sort of information needed to apply exists in a number of different formats used for current and past applications. It just needs organising better. Support is available to do this.

A grants officer would also provide much needed additional capacity to apply for larger funding from the likes of Sport England, ECB and LTA as a critical part of the Club’s exciting development plans. This involves working with our small project team of Club officers and trustees to liaise with these funding bodies to submit successful applications.

You do not need any specialist knowledge, just some basic administrative and IT skills, probably a methodical and rigorous approach, possibly some Club organisational awareness but, above all, that competitioner’s enthusiasm and drive.
