1st XI win league title

27 Aug 2017 by John Swannick

Huge congratulations to Staplehurst Cricket 1st XI winning the KRCL Premier League title yesterday with one game still to play. Next year they will play in the top tier of Kent club cricket.

Yesterday’s journey to and from Wickham Park took longer than the actual game after the lads inserted the home side and blasted them out for only 23. Jack Valentine took 6 for 19 and Tom Henson 3 for 3. The runs were knocked off in 7.4 overs.

To add to the celebrations, the 2nd XI won their home game against Rumwood. Let’s hope the success continues as the U16s play their Weald League Cup Final today at Sutton Valence School Ground (3.30pm start). And perhaps a little more sedately, the Sunday XI play their friendly against Woodchurch at home (1.30pm start).
