Building Our Future Update

18 Aug 2017 by John Swannick

The Club is delighted to announce that Maidstone Borough Council’s planning committee last night approved our planning application. However, the champagne remains on ice as there are conditions to be determined in negotiation before this is finalised. Only then will we be in a position to consider next steps with regard to the land. We also have to pick up discussions with the LTA and ECB, held back by long delays in the planning process, to progress our applications for matched funding. So we cannot make any firm plans at this stage. We hope to be in a position to put detailed proposals to members at the AGM in January and fulfil our commitment to delivering the Club’s 2016-20 development plan; a commitment central to the success of the planning application. At this time, we must put on record our grateful thanks for the work of our planning adviser, Richard Sonnex, and the steadfast support of Staplehurst Borough Councillors, John Perry and Louise Brice, and Staplehurst Parish Council.

“Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning." (W.S. Churchill, Nov 1942)
